The shelter scarf is for the homeless women in Skid Row, Downtown Los Angeles. It is also a bag, a map, a directory to important resources like food, shelter, and support, and an opportunity for people to reach out to those in need.
Francesca Ramos and I created this shelter scarf for the homeless women in Skid Row. We divided the scarf into four quadrants: one showcasing the overall Skid Row area, to find comfort(shelters and food), to find knowledge(libraries and legal aid), to be healed(medical centers).
Using human-centered methods inspired by IDEO, we wanted to approach this project by going through research, prototyping, iterations, testing and feedback. To look into our process of creating the scarf, click here.
